BAKERSFIELD, Calif. (KGET) -- Eastbound Highway 58 will be reduced to a single lane next week as Caltrans will be in the area making a series of repairs to the highway, Caltrans said through a news release Thursday.

Crews will be installing new guideposts and mile markers that have been damaged within the heavily traveled highway over the years. Caltrans will also crack seal the pavement to improve ride quality for motorists.
There will be no detours to go around the work area. So organizers say to leave with plenty of time if you travel through the area. Westbound traffic will not be affected, Caltrans officials said.
CHP will also be monitoring traffic throughout the closure.
