CHARLESTON, S.C. (WCBD) - Many people from all over the southeast traveled to New Orleans this week to see the now-rescheduled Sugar Bowl game, including a few from the Lowcountry.
Mount Pleasant residents Mallory Dunn and Cassondra Turner flew into New Orleans to watch Georgia in the bowl game. They were on Bourbon Street hours before a New Year's Day attack that left at least 15 dead and many others injured. They said there was an extremely heavy police presence.
"It was shocking to learn of it because all the roads were blocked off, heavy security, really big police presence- so it is shocking he got around all that. For that truck to make it around all those barricades it definitely took some planning and probably honestly help," said Dunn.
"There's obviously a little more going on which is obviously unnerving," said Turner.
Now that the Sugar Bowl has been rescheduled, many people may be split on whether to attend still; however, Mallory and Cassondra said they will make the best of the situation and stay for the game on Thursday.
They said after Wednesday night they felt security presence would make it safe.

"I think I feel safe, now actually you can tell they have been very proactive. They weren't letting people who work at the stadium go in and the FBI is everywhere and when they're involved you feel safer," said Dunn.
