1 dead, 4 hurt in city bus crash in North Carolina

CHARLOTTE, N.C. (QUEEN CITY NEWS) — One person is dead and four others are hurt after what Medic described as a "serious accident" in east Charlotte involving a CATS bus, according to the Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department.
Around 8:30 a.m. on Wednesday, officials responded to the crash on the 5600 block of Central Ave near Reddman Road. CMPD says the crash involved a CATS bus and a passenger vehicle, although it's unclear what vehicle the victim was in when they died.

Medic said four other people were transported to local hospitals, two with life-threatening injuries and two with minor injuries.
Police urge drivers to avoid the area and find alternate routes.
