Man dead following New Orleans East shooting

NEW ORLEANS (WGNO) — A man is dead following a shooting that happened in the New Orleans East area on Wednesday evening, Jan. 1.
According to the New Orleans Police Department, the shooting, which happened in the 8500 block of North Interstate 10 Service Road, was reported at 6:55 p.m. and confirmed as a homicide around 7:12 p.m.

The initial investigation reportedly shows that one man was shot at least one time. He was declared dead on scene.
Information about the victim, including his identity and cause of death, will be released by the Orleans Parish Coroner's Office after an autopsy and the notification of family.
