North Kingstown police officers honored by town for acts of heroism

NORTH KINGSTOWN, R.I. (WPRI) -- Multiple police officers in North Kingstown were recently honored by the town for acts of heroism.
“The lives of the many individuals affected by tragic events on these days would have come to very different conclusions had it not been for the bravery of our officers," Town Manager Ralph Mollis said. "Each has made the North Kingstown Police Department and the North Kingstown community very proud."
The town said officers Julian Varela and Kevin Lyons were recognized for saving a woman who was trapped in her car after a crash on June 8.
Sergeant Timothy Daly got honored for saving a woman in a wheelchair who was trapped in her home while it was full of smoke on July 2.
Sergeant Michael Bernardo was praised for his detective work in investigating a pharmacy that was robbed in July 2022.
Todd Duchala, an officer, was honored for using CPR to save an unresponsive person on Sept. 10.
