Celebration in the Oaks canceled following fatal Bourbon Street attack

NEW ORLEANS (WGNO) — City Park Conservancy has announced that Celebration in the Oaks has been canceled for the rest of the season after an "act of terrorism" occurred on Bourbon Street on New Year's Day.
The FBI reported that at least 10 people were killed, and more than 30 others were injured after a person drove a pickup into a crowd and fired shots at law enforcement officers.

FBI investigators said they identified the suspect as 42-year-old Shamsud-Din Jabbar from Texas.
Following the attack, City Park Conservancy issued the following statement:
Due to the New Year’s mass-casualty attack in downtown New Orleans, and the need to direct important resources elsewhere, Celebration in the Oaks is canceled for the remainder of the season. Ticket holders will be contacted with more information.
Our thoughts are with the families of those whose lives were taken and those seriously injured or impacted by the tragedy.

The Allstate Sugar Bowl was also postponed in response to the attack.
