BAKERSFIELD, Calif. (KGET) -- A 74-year-old man is dead after driving the wrong way on Highway 58 near Claymine Road Wednesday morning, according to the California Highway Patrol.
The crash was reported in the area of Highway 58 west of Claymine Road at about 5:46 a.m. for a two vehicle head on crash.

Officials with the highway patrol say a 74-year-old man was driving a Ford SUV the wrong way on eastbound highway 58 when it collided head on with a Toyota SUV, driven by a 37 year-old-woman.
The man was pronounced dead at the scene by medical personnel, according to CHP. The woman was taken to the hospital with unknown injuries.
Traffic was impacted in the area.
