CHARLESTON, S.C. (WCBD) – A new year brings new opportunities to enjoy live music from some of your favorite artists. The concert lineup for Charleston area music venues is packed full of big names coming to the Lowcountry like American Idol winner Fantasia, county music icons Blake Shelton and Keith Urban, or pop-punk’s Avril Lavigne. But there will be newer music stars hitting the stage locally like, Maddox Batson and Dixon Dallas, who both gained fame through their TikTok videos, and longtime local favorite Edwin McCain. Here are 12 upcoming concerts you won’t want to miss: South Carolina’s own Edwin McCain will kick off 2025 with a concert at the Charleston Music Hall on February 1. McCain’s career spans over 30 years with hits like “I’ll Be” and “I Could Not Ask For More.” He’ll make 17 tour stops in 2025, including Charleston. That show is scheduled for 8 p.m. Dixon Dallas, who also goes by the name Jake Hill, will perform at the Music Farm on March 6. “Dixon Dallas” is one of the Alabama native’s many personas and rose into popularity with some of his more comical songs featured on YouTube and TikTok. His music includes a mix of alternative rock, pop-punk, county, rap, and even some metal. The show starts at 8 p.m. He’s a superstar in the country music world and he’s coming to North Charleston on March 14. Blake Shelton will bring his “Friends and Heroes 2025” tour to the North Charleston Coliseum. Special guests include Trace Adkins, Deana Carter, Craig Morgan, and Emily Ann Roberts. April will be a busy month with multiple shows happening across the Charleston area. American Idol winner and actress Fantasia will get things started with a concert at the North Charleston Coliseum on April 4. Fantasia earned a Grammy Award for her single "Bittersweet" in 2011. She was also nominated for a Golden Globe Award for her performance in “The Color Purple” in 2023. She’ll perform alongside fellow North Carolina native and Grammy Award-winning singer/songwriter Anthony Hamilton. (Photo by Vianney Le Caer/Invision/AP) Five-time Grammy Award-winning singer Kelsea Ballerini will perform at the North Charleston Coliseum just days later along with The Japanese House and Marynn Taylor. That show is scheduled for April 9 at 7 p.m. Maddox Batson, who began his music career in 2023 and rose to fame through his TikTok videos, will perform at the Music Farm on April 10. The Tennessee native’s debut single “Tears in the River,” entered the Top 20 on Spotify’s US Viral 50 chart last year. He went on to gain about 12 million global streams by the end of the year and embarked on a sold-out headlining tour in the US. Batson’s show is scheduled to start at 8 p.m. Chicago will be live in concert at the North Charleston Performing Arts Center on April 16. The American rock band formed in 1967 in Chicago, Illinois, and has recorded 38 albums, and sold over 100,000,000 records. They are one of the longest-running and best-selling music groups of all time. Country music icon Keith Urban will bring his “High and Alive” world tour to Daniel Island this spring. Urban’s show at Credit One Stadium will include special guests Chase Matthew, Alana Springsteen, and Karley Scott Collins. Creed will keep the 90s alive when Scott Stapp and his band bring their “Return of the Summer of ’99 Tour” to Credit One Stadium on July 24. Creed’s hit song “With Arms Wide Open” was a smash hit in 1999 and ranked #1 on the Billboard Hot 100. They’ll welcome special guests 3 Doors Down to the Daniel Island show. This is a short look at some of the many artists coming to the Charleston area this year. Additional concerts will likely be announced throughout the year.
