Seti vs. Lacumba: Help name the Jaguar cub at Baton Rouge Zoo
Jan 01, 2025
BATON ROUGE, La. (BRPROUD) — A jaguar cub born at the Baton Rouge Zoo for the first time in over 30 years needs a name.
Zoo officials said the cub will bond with its mother for two months before making a public debut in spring 2025. People could help name the cub in a “Name That Jag” social media contest.
The search has narrowed down to two contenders: Seti and Lacumba. The zoo said the latter is a nod to Southern University.
Starting New Year's Day and running through mid-January, votes can be cast with a $1 donation per vote at this link. Proceeds from the naming campaign will go towards the Baton Rouge Zoo Foundation.
