BATON ROUGE, La. (BRPROUD) — A jaguar cub born at the Baton Rouge Zoo for the first time in over 30 years needs a name. Zoo officials said the cub will bond with its mother for two months before making a public debut in spring 2025. People could help name the cub in a “Name That Jag” social media contest. The search has narrowed down to two contenders: Seti and Lacumba. The zoo said the latter is a nod to Southern University. Starting New Year's Day and running through mid-January, votes can be cast with a $1 donation per vote at this link. Proceeds from the naming campaign will go towards the Baton Rouge Zoo Foundation. ‘Louisiana Saturday Night’ float takes shape for Rose Parade in California Latest News Broccoli sold at Walmart stores in 20 states could cause sickness: FDA 5 things that will shape US politics in 2025 Seti vs. Lacumba: Help name the Jaguar cub at Baton Rouge Zoo Louisiana leaders react to ‘act of terrorism’ in New Orleans on New Year's Day Man shot, killed in Baton Rouge on New Year's Eve
