The newest piece of the Spurs puzzle is fitting in quite nicely The San Antonio Spurs spent this Christmas away from home. As we saw throughout the road trip, many of the player’s families made the trip. For Stephon Castle, the Christmas holiday is twice as celebratory as his mom, Quannette, celebrates her birthday on December 25th. This year, she met up with Stephon and the Spurs in New York City where the Silver & Black serenaded her with a rendition of “Happy Birthday.” An early Christmas present @StephonCastle's family surprised him with his @UConnMBB National Championship ring today! pic.twitter.com/2O9dqQLBir— San Antonio Spurs (@spurs) December 24, 2024 In addition, Momma Castle surprised her son with an early Christmas gift, the NCAA Championship rings. Castle, the fourth overall pick in the 2024 NBA Draft, is currently in the running for Rookie of the Year. He stepped into the starting lineup while Jeremy Sochan was sidelined with a fracture in the proximal phalanx of his left thumb. With the minutes increase and the exposure to top tier players, Castle has valiantly answered the call, proving he is an integral piece in the Spurs future. Last night he started the second half in place of Sochan who left the game with some back soreness. He ended his year with 15 points, 4 rebounds, and 4 assists in the blowout against the Los Angeles Clippers. Happy New Year, Pounders. Things are looking good. Welcome to The Thread.
