3alarm fire at North Carolina apartments on New Year's Eve was deliberately set

LANDIS, N.C. (QUEEN CITY NEWS) — An early morning fire on New Year's Eve at an apartment complex under construction was deliberately set, according to officials with the Town of Landis.
"Investigators on scene have confirmed this is an incendiary fire," officials said. "Investigators are developing leads."
Around 4:30 a.m. Tuesday, crews responded to the Landis Apartments at 1355 Mount Moriah Church Road concerning a structure fire. As they arrived, they saw a multi-story residential building on fire, which spread to another nearby building.
The blaze was quickly controlled and no civilians were injured; however, a firefighter did sustain minor injuries, crews confirmed with Queen City News at the scene.

Landis Fire is leading the investigation with the help of the Rowan County Fire Marshal's Office, NC State Bureau of Investigations, and the NC Office of State Fire Marshal.
Rockwell Rural FD also responded to the scene on Tuesday and noted it was a three-alarm fire.
