New Year's Eve forecast bundle up!
Dec 31, 2024
(SOUTHERN COLORADO) — A cold evening is in the forecast for Southern Colorado as we say goodbye to 2024. After a few warmer days last weekend, much cooler air has moved into the region just in time for New Years.
If you are looking to get out and celebrate the arrival of the New Year, this is what you can expect--temperatures will be in the 20's for most of the late evening with a light breeze in the area. Around midnight, the region will likely drop below 20 degrees with a brisk wind chill present. The best way to battle wind chill is through layers - the more you have the better off you'll be!
On top of the cold wind chills, there are a few snow flurries moving across the region. Some heavier snow bands have set up over portions of the Palmer Divide and the Eastern Plains. Models had a difficult time nailing down these details but the snow is not expected to accumulate and should result in relatively minimal impacts. Activity will likely wrap up just after midnight if you do happen to get some light snow in your area.
As far as New Year's Day goes, we will be seeing slightly warmer temperatures with a mixture of sunshine and clouds. It will still be rather cool though so be sure to keep a coat nearby!
The FOX21 Storm Team wants to wish everyone a Happy New Year! See you in 2025.
