HOWARD COUNTY, Md. (DC News Now) -- The Maryland Office of the Attorney General (OAG) announced Tuesday that it is delaying the release of bodycam footage after a man died during a standoff with police in Laurel last month. According to the OAG, on Nov. 30, Howard County Police Department (HCPD) officers responded to a home in Laurel shortly after 3 p.m. for a domestic incident. Police said the 911 call reported a man banging on the front door. Once on scene, officers learned that a man, later identified as 29-year-old Tyree Winslow of College Park, Md., fired several shotgun rounds at the front door of the home before entering through a window. PREVIOUS COVERAGE: Man found dead after standoff with Howard County police identified Winslow allegedly did not comply with commands from police on the scene, and two officers exchanged gunfire with him. Officers then established a barricade but were unable to make contact with Winslow. Around 5:40 p.m., police entered the home, where they found him with apparent gunshot wounds. He was pronounced dead there. Police noted that officers recovered several loaded guns and a knife near Winslow. Authorities did not specify whether he died from the officers' gunfire or his own. The OAG said the delay in the release is due to the "need for additional time to allow the involved parties to view the video before it is released to the public." Per protocol, the OAG's Independent Investigations Division (IID) generally releases bodycam footage within 20 business days after an incident; however, factors such as the need for more witness interviews, technical delays or allowing family members or involved officers to view the video before it is released the public, may cause a delay. The OAG did not specify when the footage will be released.
