(KRON) – The Bay Football Club has announced the team has signed UC Berkeley star Karlie Lema to a three-year contract. This marks Lema’s first professional team, since finishing with the Bears. In her tenure at UC Berkeley, the forward accomplished quite a lot, including Pac-12 All-Freshman Team, All-Pac 12 Third Team and even ACC Offensive Player of the Year. Head coach Albertin Montoya expressed elation in Lema signing to her hometown team.  Athletics president Dave Kaval will resign from organization in the coming days “As the ACC Offensive Player of the Year, Karlie has proven her ability to make an impact with her exceptional pace and clinical finishing, making her a constant threat on the field,” said Montoya. “Adding a local talent of her caliber to our roster is incredibly exciting, and we can't wait to see her bright future unfold as she grows with our team."  Her last season with the Bears, Lema netted 16 goals in 21 appearances. In total she scored 31 goals in 76 appearances, making her sixth in the All-Time scoring list for UC Berkeley.  Born in Morgan Hill, she matriculated at Live Oak High School. Lema, in her youth, represented U.S. Youth National Teams.
