(KRON) -- A standoff in Danville Monday evening ended with the arrest of a suspect who was charged with felony battery. According to the Danville Police Department, officers responded around 9:11 p.m. to a residence on the 1000 block of Hill Meadow Place on a report of felony battery.
Arriving at the scene, officers discovered that the suspect -- 44-year-old Danville resident Kevin James Tse -- had barricaded himself inside his home. The situation, according to police, escalated into a standoff with just Tse inside the home.

Police established a perimeter around the residence and evacuated nearby homes "out of an abundance of caution." In an attempt to reach a peaceful resolution, officers negotiated with the suspect for several hours.
The Contra Costa County Sheriff's Office SWAT team was also called in to assist. After "prolonged negotiation efforts," police said Tse surrendered without further incident. Tse was taken into custody and booked into the Martinez Detention Facility on felony battery charges.
Despite the arrest, an investigation into the incident remains ongoing, police said.
