HUTCHINSON, Kan. (KSNW) -- A home near Hutchinson has extensive damage following a fire early Tuesday morning. Reno County Emergency Management says crews from Reno County Fire District 3, Buhler, and Hutchinson Fire responded around 4:15 a.m. to the fire in the 2300 block of W 82nd, about 3 miles north of Hutchinson. When they arrived, they found heavy fire coming from the center of the home that had extended to the second floor and attic spaces. Kingman man dies in early morning crash on K-42 The department says the fire was extremely difficult to battle and took nearly 3 hours to contain, in part because the construction of the home made it difficult to reach all the spaces where the fire had spread. Additional crews from Fire District 8 and an engine from Hutchinson Fire were called out to help. There was one person home at the time who escaped safely. No one was hurt. The cause of the fire is under investigation by the Kansas Fire Marshal's Office.
