Virginia State Parks waiving parking fees for New Year’s Day
Dec 31, 2024
RICHMOND, Va. (WRIC) -- New Year, new resolutions. Virginia’s State Parks will waive parking fees for "First Day Hikes" on Jan. 1, 2025.
On the first day of 2025, 43 Virginia State Parks will waive parking fees for family-friendly hikes to help motivate people with New Year's resolutions to get active.
The state parks are waiving parking fees for "First Day Hikes," an initiative offered in state parks across America to promote being active for people’s resolution.
The parking fees for 43 State Parks are waived except for the Natural Bridge State Park -- the fee to access will stay in effect and is per person.
"Southwest Virginia Museum is closed Jan. 1 although a hike is still planned," a page on Virginia State Parks' website reads.
These hikes can be explored with or without the assistance of a ranger, and to make the most of the hike there are fun activity sheets, guides and park maps to help navigate the trails that can be downloaded from the Virginia State Parks site.
