PROVIDENCE, R.I. (WLNE) — We’re saying goodbye to the past and hello to the future – 2025 is almost here! “What excites me about the new year is that it’s a fresh start,” Boston resident Gerald Pearson Jr. said.  “All the things you didn’t get done this year you can do next year or set new goals for next year.” For many, a new year means setting goals for self-improvement. “I resolved to actually think of a real resolution before midnight tonight, but I think it is going to involve actually getting back into running again,” Warwick resident Ryan McAssey said. “I want to exercise more, eat less junk, and drink less alcohol,” Florida resident Gail Montany said. Others who spoke to ABC6 News crews said they want to make others happy in 2025. “This year I want to do my homework on time because I don’t hand in homework to my teacher a lot and it gets her pretty upset,” Providence resident Nico Bartolomeo said. And for others, the New Year offers a moment for self-reflection. “The only one I really have it to just be kinder with my thoughts as well as my actions,” Wakefield resident Cherry Chun said.
