Police were called to Kalaloa Street around 12:30 a.m. on Dec. 29 where they found an unresponsive Pulu and an injured Meki Lautalo.
Reggie Lautalo was observed allegedly stabbing Pulu, his ex-girlfriend, multiple times, in an apparent case of domestic violence.
"This tragic death due to domestic violence has no place in our community. Domestic violence can impact anyone regardless of age, race or income level. We will do everything to secure a conviction in this case," said Prosecuting Attorney Steve Alm.
The charges against Reggie Lautalo both carry a mandatory sentence of life in prison with the possibility of parole. He is also subject to extended sentencing as a repeat offender, which could carry a sentence of life without parole.
Reggie Lautalo is being held without bail at the Oʻahu Community Correctional Center.
