TOMAH, Wis. (WFRV) - A 46-year-old Wisconsin man was taken into custody early Tuesday morning following an alleged shooting, according to the Tomah Police Department. Officers were dispatched to a residence on Mary Kay Avenue around 1:15 a.m. for a welfare check related to Ryan Goad, 46, who had reportedly made comments about killing an elderly man. Arrested man becomes unresponsive while in transport to jail, Wisconsin Department of Justice investigating The reporting party informed police that Goad had taken his children to a residence on Mary Kay Avenue. Upon arrival, officers discovered 80-year-old Robert Goad with gunshot wounds to his head and shoulder. Robert, who was semi-alert, told officers that Ryan had shot him with a handgun before fleeing the scene. Emergency responders transported Robert to a nearby hospital, where he remains in critical condition. Police alerted surrounding law enforcement agencies to locate Ryan and the children. By 2:45 a.m., officers confirmed the children were safe at an address in Juneau County and transported them to authorities to ensure their safety. Later, information led law enforcement to believe Ryan was in the Madison area. At about 7 a.m., the Sauk County Sheriff’s Office located and arrested Goad without incident. UPDATE: Two children, one adult found dead inside a Wisconsin home, police searching for person of interest Formal charges, including attempted first-degree intentional homicide, aggravated battery, recklessly endangering safety, and disorderly conduct, are being referred to the district attorney’s office.
