ROCHESTER, N.Y. (WROC) — A Brighton man is facing charges for a shooting in Canandaigua Saturday night that injured one woman. 28-year-old Leon Richard McDaniel allegedly got into a fight with another person at a bar on Phoenix Street. According to the Canandaigua Police Department, security removed McDaniel from the bar, but he then fired a gun several times into a crowd on the street. A 38-year-old woman was in the crowd and was struck by gunfire. The victim was taken to Strong Memorial Hospital for surgery and was discharged. Police said McDaniel left the scene after the shooting, but was found in Brighton on Monday. He was arrested and charged with first-degree assault, first-degree attempted assault, and second-degree criminal possession of a weapon.
