TOPEKA (KSNT) - City of Topeka officials are continuing to address concerns from local apartment tenants about overflowing dumpsters filled with garbage this month.
City spokesman Dan Garrett said in a press release that the landlord responsible for picking up numerous piles of trash at several local apartment complexes has failed to meet a set deadline. The property owner was cited by the city's Property Maintenance Unit and given the opportunity to clean up the mess.

Garrett said as of Tuesday, Dec. 31, 14 of the 34 properties originally cited for having violations remain uncleaned. City workers coordinated a cleanup effort at 8 a.m. on Dec. 31 to remove the remaining trash from the impacted properties with the bill being sent to the property owner Eucalyptus LLC. Criminal affidavits are also being processed for the violations and the properties which lack the required number of dumpsters being cited.
