LEXINGTON, Ky. (ABC36 NEWS NOW) – With one day left in 2024, police crime data reveals that Lexington’s number of homicides is close to matching last year’s total. According to Lexington Police, there have been 22 homicide investigations so far this year, compared to 24 in 2023. The most recent case occurred last Thursday when a deadly shooting took place outside the Laundry Connection on Newtown Pike. The Fayette County Coroner identified the victim as 63-year-old Maurice Elliot. Police continue to investigate the case and are still searching for a suspect.
