Big Island police searching for driver involved in hitandrun near Glenwood

GLENWOOD, Hawaii (KHON2) -- Hawaiʻi Island police are searching for the driver of a gray Toyota pickup truck that fled the scene after striking a sedan around 9 p.m. on Dec. 28.

The accident occurred on Highway 11 between the 19- and 20-mile marker in the Glenwood area. The Toyota pickup truck was traveling toward Hilo when it struck a black Mazda sedan.
The occupants of the sedan were transported to the Hilo Benioff Medical Center with non-life-threatening injuries.

Before police arrived at the scene, the driver of the gray Toyota pickup truck was picked up by a white Toyota pickup truck, operated by an unknown driver.
Police are also searching for the driver of the getaway vehicle so they can confirm the identity of the driver involved in the crash.
