CRAVEN COUNTY, N.C. (WNCT) — The North Carolina State Highway Patrol investigated a fatal crash that occurred on NC 55 early Sunday morning. Investigators say that a Chevrolet driven by Lawson Mckeel Blevins, 17, of Cove City, was traveling west on NC 55 when Blevins drifted off to the right side of the road causing him to overcorrect in turning back towards the centerline. This caused Blevins to cross the centerline, driving off the road and into a tree. Blevins was not wearing his seatbelt at the time. Blevins was reported deceased on the scene.
