CHARLOTTE, N.C. – A new survey from leading online sleep retailer, MattressNextDay, has revealed North Carolina’s most popular new year resolutions for 2025. As the holiday season, with all its joy and stress, ends, the new year offers Americans the perfect opportunity to reflect on health and wellness goals and make positive changes for the year ahead. According to findings from a national survey*, North Carolina adults have shared their top priorities for the year ahead, revealing the most popular new year goals that many are setting for 2025. More Hydration: #1 New Year Goal  According to the survey, the most popular new year resolution overall is drinking more water (57%), highlighting a state recognition of the importance of better hydration for overall health.  Incorporating healthier eating habits follows at 47%. Elsewhere, 18% of respondents indicated they plan to quit smoking, while 16% aim to limit alcohol consumption. These figures show a steady increase in awareness of the long-term impact of lifestyle factors and the importance of making healthier choices in 2025. Why Prioritize Sleep in 2025?  Sleep is often overlooked when it comes to setting wellness goals, but it is one of the most important goals according to the survey. Commenting on the survey findings, MattressNextDay’s sleep expert Martin Seeley, “Adequate sleep is essential for mental clarity, physical restoration, and emotional well-being. Prioritizing sleep can have a profound impact on your mood, energy levels, and ability to manage stress.” Benefits of Improving Sleep in the New Year  Martin explains that good sleep is a must if you want to improve any of the following areas of your health: Better cognitive function: Quality sleep boosts your focus, memory, and your ability to make sensible and actionable decisions. When you’re well-rested, you think more clearly, can solve problems more easily, and retain information better, all of which are going to be required when conquering your New Year goals. Physical health benefits: Sleep is vital for your body’s recovery period, so prioritizing rest time is only going to benefit your workouts going forward. Not only that, but good sleep lowers the risk of serious health issues like heart disease and diabetes in the future, ensuring your body stays in tip-top condition as you grow older. Improved mental health: Getting a good night’s sleep not only helps you feel rested, but it can help to reduce any feelings of stress, anxiety, and even depression that you might be feeling. When you’ve gotten those eight hours of rest, you’ll find it much easier to handle everyday challenges. Better yet, good sleep acts as a natural mood booster, helping you feel calmer and more resilient when life gets stressful.
