RICHMOND, Va. (WRIC) - Today will be even warmer with highs near 70 and heavier rain with a few embedded storms move in this afternoon. The beginning half of the day will be mainly quiet with a few spotty showers possible. Heavier and steadier rain won’t move until this afternoon. A line of showers and storms will move into western counties by mid afternoon. Some of these storms can be strong to severe with the main threat being damaging winds. The best time frame for areas in the metro area to see the line of showers and storms will be between 4pm-7pm. The line of showers continues to slowly push east and also weaken. Overnight any lingering showers will taper off and temperatures will drop to near 50.Mild temperatures stay with us to end off the year mostly sunny skies on Monday. The last day of 2024, Tuesday, looks to be wet with the risk of showers around once again for the afternoon and evening hours. Cooler air moves in as we start off 2025 with highs near the middle 50s on Wednesday. High temperatures Thursday and Friday will be near the middle 40s and highs by the weekend will be even cooler in the low 40s. We also look to stay dry to start off the new year.
