MONTGOMERY VILLAGE, Md. (DC News Now) -- Crews battled a fire in Montgomery Village late Friday evening.
Officials said that around 11:45 p.m., crews responded to Maple Leaf Drive off of Apple Ridge Road for a fire.
Pete Piringer, a spokesperson with the Montgomery County Fire and Rescue System (MCFRS), said that the house did not have any smoke alarms or sprinklers.

One person -- the home's occupant -- was inside but managed to get out. That person was taken to a burn center for their injuries.
Piringer said that the fire likely started on the ceiling of the first floor kitchen. Officials believe it was likely the light fixture, but could not determine the exact source.
