MEMPHIS, Tenn. -- Two people were taken to the hospital after Memphis Police say their car was shot into by their friend early Saturday morning. At 3:57 a.m., officers responded to an aggravated assault involving firearms discharged at Whitten Road and Hillshire Drive. When they arrived, officers spoke with two victims who arrived at Regional One by private vehicle. One of the victims told officers that they were driving northbound on Whitten Road when a black four-door sedan started following them and fired shots from inside the vehicle. Moments later, the other victim told officers they realized that the vehicle belonged to her friend. Neither victim could tell officers which side of the suspect's vehicle the shots were fired from. Ten cars broken into at downtown apartments One of the victims said she tried to call the suspect but she didn't answer the phone. When she eventually called back, the suspect claimed she shot their car up because "she thought that they (the victims) set her up "to have her vehicle broken into at Club Level 3. "No, that's not a friend," driver Jonnie McGowan said. "Friends like that, who needs enemies?" Officers on the scene at Regional One saw a bullet hole on the rear driver-side quarter panel. Another bullet hole was found in the front passenger's side windshield. The rear windshield was also busted. Officers saw that one of the victims had no injuries and the other had an abrasion to her right calf. According to officers, the nurses at Regional One said that the victim's injuries were not consistent with a gunshot wound, but glass fragments. At this time, police have not said whether or not they've made any arrests.
