KANSAS CITY, Mo. -- Fire crews from Northeast Johnson County's Consolidated Fire District #2, Overland Park, and Shawnee needed more than an hour to bring a fire under control that caused significant damage at a Merriam 7-Eleven on Saturday morning.
Firefighters responded to the call just before 5 a.m. at the convenience store located at 68th and Antioch, according to information from the Overland Park Fire Department's spokesman.

The fire was first reported in the back room of the store before flames shot up through the roof, forcing firefighters into a defensive attack.
No injuries were reported, and the cause of the fire is under investigation.
