Docs: Christmas homicide suspect 'just began shooting everyone'

INDIANAPOLIS — Court documents have revealed new details about a shooting that left a woman dead and five others injured during a holiday part on Christmas Day.
Public records indicate one of the victims told police he was arguing with the suspect when, all of the sudden, the suspect "just began shooting everyone." The suspect was already facing charges for another violent crime he was allegedly involved in earlier this year.
Loved ones gathered at the home where 37-year-old Ana Paredes was killed to honor her memory Friday night. Her family wasn't ready to speak with reporters, saying they're still grieving, and that police are still actively investigating her death.
"Shocking," "devastating" and "tragic" are the only words that police and neighbors alike have used to describe what happened on Meadowlark Drive that afternoon.
IMPD detectives believe 35-year-old Dauzon Narvez Garzon repeatedly pulled the trigger of a gun during a holiday house party, shooting a total of six people.
According to an affidavit, an argument between Garzon and Paredes' boyfriend turned physical. Once the argument turned physical, Garzon began firing shots at multiple people, including Paredes' boyfriend.
One witness told police he saw Garzon pull out the gun and begin "shooting all over the house."
"There were children that were present when those shots rang out," said IMPD Public Information Officer Drew Brown. "I want you to think about that violence that met this family on a day that's supposed to be filled with happiness."
Court records report that a neighbor flagged down officers when they arrived in the area of Meadowlark Drive to investigate the shooting. The neighbor then pointed police in the direction of a bush that Garzon was hiding in.
After he was booked, Garzon told detectives that people at the party were threatening him and accusing him of working with police. Garzon also claimed he couldn't remember ever firing the gun because he had cocaine, meth and alcohol in his system.
"It's unclear exactly what the motive is," Brown said. "Of course, our detectives have been working around the clock, away from their families as well, to try to bring a swift resolve to this incident."
Court records show Garzon was already facing felony battery and strangulation charges for an incident back in May. At that time, he reportedly pistol-whipped and bit his girlfriend outside of Tajin Mexican Bar and Grill, warning her that, if she called police, "it would be worse for her."
IMPD officials indicated that ICE and the Department of Homeland Security are also on the case because Garzon was in the United States illegally. He's currently being held without bond and is due in court on Monday.
