Week 17 continues with a Saturday tripleheader on NFL Network: Chargers at Patriots, Broncos at Bengals, and Cardinals at Rams. Come chat with us in our live thread! Week 17 continues with a Saturday tripleheader on NFL Network!
The 1:00 p.m. ET game will feature the Los Angeles Chargers (9-6) at New England Patriots (3-12). That game will be followed by the Denver Broncos (9-6) at Cincinnati Bengals (7-8) at 4:30 p.m. ET. Then the day will be closed out with the Arizona Cardinals (7-8) at the Los Angeles Rams (9-6).
Lots of playoff implications in these games, so let’s take a look at what each has to offer.
Chargers at Patriots

The folks over at FanDuel Sportsbook are favoring Los Angeles in this game with the betting line being set at Chargers -4.5 points.
This game is pretty straightforward: if the Chargers win, they’ll clinch one of the final two available spots in the AFC playoffs. Los Angeles can’t catch the Chiefs in the AFC West (Kansas City has already claimed the No. 1 seed in the conference), but they will have a chance to jump up to the No. 5 seed with some help.
Right now, the AFC wild card is set up:
No. 5: Steelers (10-6)
No. 6: Chargers (9-6)
No. 7: Broncos (9-6)
If the Chargers beat the Patriots and increase their record to 10-6, they’ll still trail the Steelers based on tiebreakers. They’ll also stay ahead of the Broncos heading into Week 18, even if the Broncos win.
Which brings us to the next game...
Broncos at Bengals
Date: Saturday, December 28, 2024Time: 4:30 p.m. ETLocation: Paycor Stadium in Cincinnati, OhioTV: NFL NetworkAnnouncers: Kevin Harlan, Trent Green, and Melanie Collins (field reporter)Additional online Streaming: NFL+ Premium
The folks over at FanDuel Sportsbook are favoring Cincinnati in this game with the betting line being set at Bengals -3 points.
The Broncos are also in a win-and-in scenario for the AFC playoffs. Meaning, if the Chargers claim one of the AFC’s last spots in the early game, the Broncos could claim the seventh and final spot with a win over the Bengals. If Denver loses this game, they’ll have to face the Chiefs in Week 18, once again needing a win to secure a playoff berth.
The Bengals won’t go away quietly, which is why they’re favored in this game. At 7-8, the Bengals are currently in the No. 10 spot in the AFC and will need some help to leapfrog the Dolphins (at Browns in Week 17), Colts (at Giants), and Broncos (and maybe Chargers). But Cincinnati has convincingly won their last three games (albeit over the Cowboys, Titans, and Browns) and come in as hot as any team in the NFL. It’s a tough task, but if they want a chance to play in the postseason, it starts with beating the Broncos in this game.
Cardinals at Rams
Date: Saturday, December 28, 2024Time: 8:00 p.m. ETLocation: SoFi Stadium in Los Angeles, CaliforniaTV: NFL NetworkAnnouncers: Rich Eisen, Kurt Warner, and Jamie Erdahl (field reporter)Additional online Streaming: NFL+ Premium
The folks over at FanDuel Sportsbook are favoring Los Angeles in this game with the betting line being set at Rams -6.5 points.
With four playoff spots in the NFC claimed by the Lions, Eagles, Vikings, and Packers, along with the Commanders being on the doorstep of claiming the fifth spot, the NFC South and West representatives will likely only be the teams who win those divisions.
In the NFC West, that battle comes down to the Rams (9-6) and the Seahawks (9-7). The Seahawks took care of business on Thursday night, beating the Bears and moving within a half-game of the division lead. However, the Rams have a chance to win the division this week.
Because of the complicated tiebreakers between the Rams and Seahawks, for the Rams to clinch the Division this week, they need to: 1) Beat the Cardinals, and 2) Secure 3.5 wins from any of the following six teams:
Bengals (vs. Broncos)
Bills (vs. Jets)
Browns (vs. Dolphins)
Vikings (vs. Packers)
Commanders (vs. Falcons) on Sunday Night
49ers (vs. Lions) on Monday night
If the Rams lose, or they only secure three or fewer wins, they’ll host the Seahawks in Week 18 for a winner-take-all scenario for the division and a chance to host an NFC playoff game.
