Free Metro rides, extended hours on New Year's Eve

WASHINGTON (DC News Now) -- Metro will be open later and free on New Year's Eve thanks to a partnership.
Officials said that on Dec. 31, Metro will be staying open two hours later, until 2 a.m. on Jan. 1, 2025.
Metro announces holiday train, bus schedules
Starting at 8 p.m. fares will also be free -- anyone taking a Metro bus or train will not need their SmarTrip cards and will not have to tap to board.
Metro said that this is part of a partnership with Miller Light and Coors Light's Free Rides Program.
