BATON ROUGE, La. (BRPROUD) — As a skincare craze sweeps social media among teenagers, one Baton Rouge clinic is discussing a product, Aviclear. It is the only FDA-approved laser for treating mild to severe acne.
"Aviclear is one of the newest revolutionary treatments for acne today," said Dr. Todd Howell, co-owner of Anti-Aging Clinics of Louisiana.
The anti-aging clinic on Bluebonnet Boulevard has laser tech. Howell said it is the only practice in the southeast with the tech.
"We were one of the first practices in the country to have this laser," said Howell.
Howell said Aviclear has gained popularity with local teenagers in the capital area.
"Anyone who has acne can benefit from this treatment, but the biggest population that we see, is obviously our adolescent teens," said Howell.
He said the treatment takes less than an hour and requires no numbing cream, and zero downtime. He said most acne clears up after three treatments. For those on Accutane, Howell said Aviclear is better. It has no long-term side effects.

"It's very satisfying to see clearance of something that can be that psychologically debilitating to get full clearance and to see how their personality changes and how their outlook on everything changes," said Howell.
He called it a game changer and said he hopes it continues to help more people in the Baton Rouge area.
