Saints to start Spencer Rattler vs. Raiders, Derek Carr, Alvin Kamara and two offensive line starters ruled out

METAIRIE, La. (BRPROUD) — It's the same story, a different week for the New Orleans Saints. Injuries continue to plague the black-and-gold offense.
New Orleans will be without QB Derek Carr and RB Alvin Kamara on Sunday against the Raiders. Rookie Spencer Rattler will make his fifth start at QB this season.
Rattler struggled at Green Bay. The Saints shut out the NFL's first team this season. Rattler finished the game 15/30 for 153 yards, no touchdowns, an interception and a fumble.
In Week 17, reporters asked Saints OC Klint Kubiak about Rattler. What improvement does he want to see? The biggest thing at the top of his list is ball security.
"I would like him to learn that the ball is on fire. When the pass rush is out, we got to get out of our hand," Kubiak said. "We can't take sacks in two minutes. You got to make quick decisions. You got to go above and beyond the X's and O's to get the job done for the team."
"I think it's just having great focus every play, avoiding a couple of disaster plays," Rattler said. "I felt like I did a good job of that in prior games. But, you're in a road environment like that. You just have to dial yourself in every single play, and understand that everybody has to do their job to have success on each play, but at the end of the day, the ball's in my hands. It's up to me to protect it. So I'm definitely disappointed with that last game. But, I want to be better in this game to win, because if you don't, you lose."
Rattler will also be playing behind a very banged-up Saints offensive line. New Orleans will be without starting center Erik McCoy and left guard Lucas Patrick. McCoy has been a huge part of the Saints' offense's success.
In the seven games he's played, excluding Week 3, the Saints have allowed 11 sacks. He left that game with a groin injury.
Now compare that to the seven games McCoy missed. The Saints have allowed 18 quarterback sacks.
