Warmer weather returns again this weekend
Dec 27, 2024
Much warmer weather will move back into New Mexico again this weekend with highs staying well-above average. Cooler air moves in though to start the New Year.
Another round of light snow and rain moved through northern New Mexico Friday, bringing some very light snowfall accumulations to parts of the northern mountains. Temperatures were warmer across the state today too, thanks to a stronger westerly wind that is still sticking around Friday evening in the southern half of the state. These winds will actually stick around overnight, keeping temperatures warmer overnight compared to what we've been used to. The light rain and snow will move out of New Mexico overnight, but skies will stay partly cloudy to mostly clear.
Drier weather returns statewide Saturday as temperatures continue a warming trend and winds will be lighter in the afternoon. Sunday and Monday will be the warmest day for many of us over the next several days. Stronger winds will pick up again Monday afternoon.
A strong cold front will move into New Mexico from the northwest Monday night and through the day Tuesday. This will bring in cooler air to start the New Year.
