MEMPHIS, Tenn. — A string of car break-ins hit the Crescent Bluff Apartments on the south end of downtown Friday.
Memphis Police responded to a theft from a motor vehicle call at 7 a.m., but that was just the tip of the iceberg. A total of 10 car break-ins were reported.
"I saw that the glove compartment was open and the arm rest was open with all of my things thrown around. Ican’t tell what’s all missing right now because I can’t even think straight to tell you," one victim said. “And it was pouring down raining yesterday so everything in my car is completely wet. My seats are wet and they’re probably going to smell sour in a few hours.”
One resident reported finding her windows shattered around 2 am, with many damaged cars gone by the time police arrived.

A gate into the complex is broken, which may have led to the break-ins.
“I want them to fix that gate," a resident said. "If y’all gonna do anything please fix the gate. Even if that doesn’t stop the thieves, it’ll deter them.“
The apartment manager could not comment, and directed us to corporate, which has not responded.
