(MONUMENT, Colo.) — A ranch in Monument still has one more day of festive fun for families who aren't ready to end the Christmas season just yet. Colorado Kids Ranch on Highway 105 is offering "Christmas on the Ranch," with thousands of lights, animal visits, cocoa, roller slides, and more. This was the first year for this event, which has been operating throughout this holiday season. "This is a brand new event, we're just trying to get the word out right now, and hopefully people can come back and enjoy it next year," said JD Chapman, Co-Owner of Colorado Kids Ranch and Pumpkin Patch. The owners of the ranch have been offering holiday fun other than Christmas for 16 years. The farm operates as a pumpkin patch during the fall, and offers summer camps for kids to learn about farming, agricultural work, horses, farm safety, and more. "We used to have a Christmas light show that we used to do and we thought, now we have animals here to see and some things like that, where people enjoy some of the things they do at the pumpkin patch, where they enjoy seeing animals and maybe doing the slide around Christmas lights," Chapman said. I was outdoors all the time and I just know that in Colorado there's an opportunity there for the kids to be maybe in the living room or their bedroom all the time," said Chapman. "So we wanted to offer an opportunity for kids to do something else, you know, to be outdoors, to have fun, to just exercise, having some fun with their family."
