GLEN ULLIN, ND (KXNET) — A 66-year-old woman from Hebron has been killed and her three passengers were injured after she was allegedly distracted by a phone call and lost control of her car.
According to the North Dakota Highway Patrol (NDHP), on December 27 at about 4:35 p.m. half a mile north of Glen Ullin, a Kia Sorento was traveling southbound on County Road 88 when the driver became distracted by a phone call. Her vehicle veered off the roadway to the left, entering the eastbound ditch.
The Kia then struck a concrete bridge support and came to a stop. The driver, who was allegedly not wearing a seatbelt, was pronounced dead after being life-flighted to Sanford Hospital in Bismarck.
Three kids in the car aged 15, 12, and 11 sustained non-life-threatening injuries and were transported to Sanford Hospital. The NDHP says all the kids were wearing seatbelts.
The crash remains under investigation by the NDHP.
