Where's the best place to pop the question in North Dakota?

NORTH DAKOTA (KXNET) — What better time is there to start a new chapter of your life than New Year's Day? Not including Valentine's Day, January 1st (and the hour leading up to it) is considered by many to be the best time to ask someone to marry you.
The general happiness associated with that day, along with elements such as fireworks, makes it an ideal time to propose, as there are many romantic places you can pop the question. But which places are the best?
Dating News conducted a poll of 3,000 women in long-term relationships to try and determine the best place to get down on one knee in each state.
The top three places in North Dakota are similar to each other in terms of size, but different when it comes to the areas they're in and their surroundings. The places are:
#1 Broadway Square (Fargo) - North Dakota women overwhelmingly chose Broadway Square, because of how romantic the holiday wonderland is with its twinkling lights and an ice-skating rink. On New Year’s Eve, festive events and cozy gathering spaces make it even more charming, allowing for couples to share an intimate moment.
#2 Downtown Minot (Minot) - The second pick for a marriage proposal on New Year's Eve is Downtown Minot. The Magic City also has many holiday lights, and its historic charm provides a warm and cozy place to get down on one knee. Community celebrations and live music events add vibrancy, making it perfect for couples who love the chaos life brings.

#3 Capitol Grounds (Bismarck) - The third dream proposal spot was Capitol Grounds, which offer more of a serene and stately setting compared to Fargo and Minot. The grand architecture and holiday decor provide an elegant backdrop for a New Year's Eve proposal.
Other places on the list include Waikiki Beach in Hawaii, the Golden Gate Bridge in California, and Times Square in New York. Surprisingly, the bustling nature of downtown New York and San Francisco doesn't deter many from wanting to be proposed to there.
A common theme among many locations on the list is the history behind a lot of them. Lots of parks, bridges, and capitols made the list. A couple boardwalks, such as the Atlantic City Boardwalk in New Jersey, as well as beaches, are also favorites, suggesting that women see the oceanfront as a romantic place to propose even in the middle of the night.
46% of women said they want the proposal to happen just before the clock strikes midnight on New Year's Eve. 30%, however, would prefer to do it during a shared dinner or event, and 24% would love to be proposed to early in the evening so that it sets the mood for the rest of the night.
When it comes to sharing the news, 78% did say they want it to be a special, private moment with just the two of them, so that it feels more meaningful. However, 20% said they would love to tell friends and family right away, and 2% say they want to take center stage and make it a grand, public spectacle.
Women were split on the ideal backdrop, however, with 30% hoping for a quiet, natural setting (like a mountain or beach), and 30% preferring a cozy indoor space with candles and lights. Another 22% said they'd prefer a glittering city skyline, and 18% would like it to be somewhere completely unexpected.

60% of women agreed that the classic proposal, where a man goes down on one knee, is the best, while 22% said they want a creative surprise in which the ring is elaborately revealed to them or they have to search for it. The remaining 18% would like it to be hidden in a meaningful object.
Women were also asked about the most important element of a proposal and the best accessory or detail to make it special. Regarding elements, respondents said:
The element of surprise (36%)
The other half's speech (28%)
Location (22%)
Atmosphere (14%)
When it comes to accessories and details, they said:
Meaningful token of the relationship (41%)
Photographer to capture the moment (27%)

New Year's Eve is a special time to propose, and the act itself can be tailored to the couple's desires. The holiday offers many possibilities for people looking to get down on one knee.
