ROCHESTER, N.Y. (WROC) – To celebrate the second full day of Hanukkah a Menorah lighting ceremony was held in Rochester City Hall's atrium Friday.
Mayor Malik Evans joined Rabbi Vogel for the annual tradition celebrating the Jewish community here in Rochester, lighting the Menorah that stands as a powerful symbol of hope, perseverance, and religious freedom.
Rabbi Vogel talked about the significance of Hanukkah being celebrated in the City of Rochester.
"The blessing of this great country is it guarantees freedom for all. It's just so wonderful to be here and celebrate Hanukkah so God bless. God Bless America, God bless the city of Rochester for being such a welcoming home to the Jewish community," Rabbi Vogel said.
Rabbi Vogel adds the message behind day two of Hanukkah says that "What you did yesterday was good for yesterday. But today is a new day. Today you have to do more".
