The Latest from Storm Team 5... An area of low pressure moving up through the Mississippi River Valley into the western Great Lakes is our next weathermaker, bringing with it widespread rain into northeast Wisconsin. Expect widespread coverage of the showers this evening and into the overnight hours, with some pockets being steady at times. Lows tonight will hover on the north and south side of 40 degrees. Total rainfall half to three quarters of an inch, slightly lower lakeside. The dense fog from yesterday has held in place areas north and west of the Fox Valley, with hazy skies for the Fox Valley and lakeshore. A Dense Fog Advisory is in effect for Waupaca, Shawano, Menominee, Northern Oconto, Northern Marinette counties and into Menominee County Michigan until 6am Saturday morning. Saturday morning we will see some lingering rain showers north of Green Bay and where it is cool enough in central and north central Wisconsin, it could be more of a wintry mix. This system should lift off into the U.P. around or just before the lunch hour Saturday. Highs run way above average in the low to mid 40s. The breeze will kick in out of the SW gusting 20-25mph. There could be a few breaks in the clouds toward sunset to let a few rays of sun in, but overnight, plan for mostly cloudy skies and the potential return of some areas of fog. We will monitor if the National Weather Service issues another dense fog advisory. Sunday will be a quiet day, mostly cloudy skies and temperatures in the middle 30s north, upper 30s to around 40 for the rest. Now another wave of low pressure will pass through lower Michigan, and models are indicating some moisture could back in and clip our lakeshore communities. Monday looks very nice, mixture of sun and clouds with temperatures a degree or two warmer. Quiet weather for New Years Eve and Day, but temperatures begin a down hill tumble, falling into the low 20s by weeks end and lows in the teens.
