(KXNET) — A Fargo man led South Dakota and North Dakota authorities on an I-29 North chase early Friday morning until he was stopped in Richland County. According to the North Dakota Highway Patrol, a 40-year-old Fargo man was traveling north on I-29 in South Dakota shortly after midnight when he fled from a Roberts County, SD Sheriff's Deputy. The deputy pursued the man into North Dakota's Richland County. The North Dakota Highway Patrol responded to help and took over the chase. One trooper was able to use a spike strip to deflate two of the tires on the fleeing car. Another trooper used a "PIT" manuever (a "pursuit intervention technique") to force the car into the median of the highway, where it became disabled. The Fargo man was taken into custody and transported to the Richland County Jail. He was charged with Felony Fleeing – his second offense in three years, Misdemeanor Driving under the Influence-Drugs, Driving Under Suspension – his fourth offense in five years, and Reckless Endangerment. A female passenger in the car was not arrested and was taken to a residence in Fargo. Charges are also pending against the Fargo man in Roberts County, SD. Close Thanks for signing up!
