Hampden fire department holding CPR training course for the new year
Dec 27, 2024
HAMPDEN, Mass. (WWLP) - If you need a CPR certification in the new year or are looking to gain skills in the way you can help in a future emergency, the Hampden Fire Department has you covered with the Heartsaver CPR AED Training Certification Course.
On January 11 at 9:00 a.m. in the Hampden Town Hall auditorium, certified instructors from the fire department will teach this course at a basic level, so that anyone with little to no medical training can learn how to respond in an emergency that involves cardiac arrest or other life-threatening circumstances.
Driving risks to be aware of ahead of New Years Eve
The course teaches cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) for infants, children, and adults, and how to use an automated external defibrillator (AED). Participants will also be taught how to recognize signs of cardiac arrest, choking, and heart attacks, and how to perform chest compressions and rescue breathing. When participants finish the course, they will be given a Heartsaver CPR AED certification that will be valid for two years.
Registration for the course is available from now until January 6. Visit the Hampden Parks and Recreation site here for more information.
