WINDSOR LOCKS, CT. (WWLP) - Friday is expected to be another busy day of traveling.  Driving risks to be aware of ahead of New Years Eve Travelers are continuing to head home from their holiday trips and that will lead to traffic on the roads and long lines at airports. Airport officials are reminding those hopping on a plane to give themselves enough time to account for more cars and people around the airport, especially if you need to find parking or return a rental car, and/or check your bags before you go through TSA. AAA predicts 119 million people will travel 50 miles or more between the holidays and the new year, that's three million more than last year. They also expect air travel this year will set a new record with just about 8 million passengers. A reminder, arrive two hours before domestic flights, and three before international, however, during holidays, more time could help you avoid stress and increase your patience. With severe storms in southern and western parts of the U.S. impacting many flights, it is important to know what you are entitled to if your flight gets canceled. Back in April, the Biden-Harris Administration announced the final ruling that requires airlines to promptly provide passengers with automatic cash refunds when owed. The new rule makes it easy for impacted passengers to get refunds when airlines cancel or significantly change their flights, and do not accept the alternative transportation or travel credits offered. For a refund, a flight needs to be delayed more than three hours for a domestic and six hours for an international flight among other qualifications,  Passengers who file a mishandled bag report and have not received it within 12 hours of a domestic flight landing and 15-30 of an international flight will also be entitled to a refund, or lastly, if the airline fails to provide extra services they purchased including wi-fi or in-flight entertainment.
