PROVIDENCE, R.I. (WLNE) — A Black lab that escaped from his foster’s home and was missing for two weeks showed back up on Christmas morning.
According to Rhode Home Rescue, it was a true Christmas miracle, as back on Dec. 11, Scout slipped out a door while a family member was leaving.
It was then he bolted down the street and was seen being hit by a car outside a coffee shop.
Rhode Home Rescue said they were contacted by good samaritans who were inside TLC Coffee Roasters at the time Scout got hit and heard it happen.
Rhode Home Rescue said the car allegedly did not stop, and left the scene.
Witnesses came out to help and saw Scout limp away into the woods and disappear as the car sped off.
Since that day, there had been no sightings of Scout.
The non-profit organization said with drones and trackers were continuously looking for the lab, until he showed up to his fosters’ neighbors house on Christmas Day.
According to Rhode Home Rescue, Scout will need surgery to have his leg amputated.
He’s currently in the care of Mass RI, who are getting him healthy again and reintroducing him to food and water.
The organization is now asking for donations towards his medical care.
