A 65 year old man from Aberdeen riding a bicycle sustained fatal injuries when struck by a vehicle Thursday evening (Dec. 26, 2024, at 9:45pm) in Aberdeen. The names of the persons involved have not been released pending notification of family members. Preliminary crash information indicates the driver of a 2005 Ford F-150 was traveling westbound on 2nd Avenue NE near North Lincoln Street when he struck a bicyclist on the shoulder of the road. The cyclist died from his injuries. The driver of the Ford F-150 was charged with DUI and possession of marijuana.  The South Dakota Highway Patrol is investigating the crash. The Highway Patrol is an agency of the South Dakota Department of Public Safety.
