LEXINGTON, Ky. (ABC 36 NEWS NOW) — A new 40-megawatt solar farm was approved for Fayette County. According to state officials, the Public Service Commission gave the East Kentucky Power Cooperative permission to build the facility south of I-64 and north of Winchester Road. It will be about three miles from Clark County. The future solar farm is part of the Bluegrass Plains Solar Project. Lexington Mayor Linda Gorton has previously expressed her opposition to the project earlier this year. A solar farm has also been approved in Marion County. The Public Service Commission says the projects meet the criteria for reasonable rates and services for electric customers.   Categories: Featured, Local News, News Tags: Bluegrass Plains Solar Project, East Kentucky power Cooperation, Mayor Linda Gorton, Public Service Commission, solar farm
