Coroner identifies woman killed in Horry County hitandrun; seeks help finding family

(WPDE) —The Horry County Coroner’s Office has identified the victim of a deadly hit-and-run on Claypond Road and is asking for the public’s assistance in locating her family.
Cynthia Hernandez was riding a moped on Claypond Road near Arrowhead Boulevard on December 21, 2024, when she was struck by a vehicle.
The driver left the scene, and Hernandez later died from her injuries.
Deputy Coroner Michelle McSpadden stated that efforts to find Hernandez’s family have been unsuccessful.
While Hernandez had been living in Myrtle Beach, she was originally from Miami, Florida, and her family may still reside there.
