MARION, Ind. (NETWORK INDIANA) — State Police are investigating after two people – including one Grant County deputy – were hurt in an officer-involved shooting.
According to ISP, Grant County Sheriff’s officers went to a home on East County Road 450 North Thursday evening, after learning that someone may have been “threatening to harm another person.”
There, 52-year-old Glenn Smock apparently came out of the home with a shotgun…and shot one of the deputies. Smock was then shot, so he went back inside the home and “barricaded himself.”
Eventually, though, the man surrendered and was flown to a hospital. The injured officer – who has not yet been publicly identified – also went to a hospital, but was soon released.
The deputy who shot Smock is now on administrative leave, as is standard in these incidents.
